One of the latest independent design shops to open up on my local high street in St. Albans is That Design Store.

Wow!! I could just leave the review with just that one word but here’s a bit more incase you need it.

The store opened in November 2014, by Oliver Zissman and Anthony Matchett, formerly of Wave Studios. Oliver was also a partner in Dixie’s Cupcakery (in St Albans) and The Baker Shop with his ex-wife and The Apprentice finalist Luisa, so is not new to the retail scene. Specialising in furniture, lighting and accessories from brands and designers such as; Tom Dixon, Alessi and Buster + Punch to name a few.

Not only is it kid friendly (not a sharp edge in sight see!) but it’s utterly beautiful. Made from natural oak, it oozes simplicity so it could really go into any setting. It can be finished in a natural lacquer or a black stain. It’s not a cheap one at £1600 but I can imagine it would last for many happy food filled years.

Thankfully they also have the convenience of an online shop with free delivery no matter what size the product is and payment can be made through PayPal for ease.

So really there is no excuse, shop online if you’re not local to them or pop in, absolutely worth a visit.
